Crittenton Women's Union (CWU) will field a Boston Marathon team for the first time in 2012 with a total fundraising goal of $25,000 to help the 1,400 low-income women and children CWU helps each year get on track to build economically secure lives.
Team CWU welcomes qualified runners who have or will receive their numbers through the Boston Athletic Association (BAA). The minimum fundraising goal for qualified runners is $1,000.

Ariel, 23, has run four half marathons but will run her first, full 26.2 miler for CWU. Ariel is a business analyst at the Public Consulting Group and lives in Somerville. “Having interned at CWU, I was able to see first-hand the impact that it has on low-income women and their families...and I truly believe that the money I raise will help better the those women and their families.” |

Jason, 37, has participated in several charity 5Ks and two half-marathons. He started training for the Boston Marathon last year but work got in the way. Jason is a legislative aide at the State House and resides in Dartmouth. “I’d like to highlight the important work CWU does and also the very acute need for such work in our communities. If I can bring more awareness to that need, in addition to fundraising, I’ll be happy. I’ll also be very happy when I finish the race! |

Jennifer, 37, is a veteran of both the Boston Marathon, 2007, and the New York City Marathon, 2011. As an experienced marathoner, Jennifer shares training tips and lots of encouragement with her teammates. Jennifer is CWU’s Director of Research and Evaluation and lives in Boston. “It’s an honor to run the Boston Marathon for CWU. The challenge of running 26.2 miles pales in comparison to the challenges many families in poverty face every day. I’m excited to join CWU’s efforts to ‘run poverty out of town.’” |
