Moonbox Productions will present the Obie Award-winning musical, Floyd Collins, from April 5th to April 14th at the Boston Center for the Arts Plaza Theatre, with a portion of all ticket sales benefiting Crittenton Women's Union.
Described as a “daring musical” and an “ambitious, tuneful lesson in American history,” Floyd Collins is the tragic, true tale of a Kentucky cave explorer trapped underground in 1925 whose plight became a media sensation, creating a carnival atmosphere above ground and riding the crest of the new technology of home radio. Floyd Collins premiered at the American Music Theater Festival, New York City, in 1994, and it opened Off Broadway at Playwright's Horizons in 1996. The show won the 1996 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical and the 1995–1996 Obie Award for its score. |
