EDWARD LAPPEN
Crittenton Women’s Union Board Member Edward Lappen died suddenly on December 31st, a sad loss that will be profoundly felt by the CWU staff and board. Ed brought deep compassion and determined commitment to helping women and their families overcome poverty and achieve the American dream.
As a model business leader for 30 years, he recognized the critical importance of creating opportunities for growth and advancement. His keen support of CWU’s Woman to Woman and Career Family Opportunity programs reflected his belief in providing people with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed.
A CWU Board Member since 2009, Ed contributed his leadership and experience to the CWU Finance Committee. Ed was the chief executive officer of Lappen Auto Supply in Stoughton, Mass. A resident of Cohasset, Mass., Ed served as vice chair of the Cohasset Advisory Committee and was a member of the Democratic Town Committee. He was an adviser for the Appalachia Service Project and a team captain for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. He received his B.A. from Clark University and his J.D. from Suffolk University.
We at CWU extend our heartfelt sympathy to Ed’s wife Helene, his children, Mia and Ross, his parents Joe and Shirley, and all his extended family and friends. His infectious humor, kindness, and wisdom will be missed for years to come.
