MAP Program Intern

Internship Title: MAP Program Intern

Position Description:  MAP: Mobility Action Plan, MMC-B Certificate program is seeking an intern to work closely with the Program Coordinator, assisting with raising awareness of a new program, building resource data bases as well as performing administrative duties. This is an exciting time to be involved with Crittenton Women’s Union and MMC-B to gain valuable experience in workforce development and education.

Intern duties would include:

  • Assist with developing data bases in the following areas:
    - Scholarships for women
    - Boston-based resources in training, education, career development
     
  • Perform administrative tasks such as required by the MAP Certificate Program Coordinator

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work on teams
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
     

Shifts Available: Monday-Friday, 9 AM – 3 PM (hours and schedule flexible within time frame)

Institutional Advancement Intern

Institutional Advancement Intern

 
The Institutional Advancement Department at Crittenton Women’s Union is seeking an intern for the summer 2015 term. The intern will be an important part of the IA Team, working closely with the Community Engagement and Giving Coordinator, the External Affairs and Events Associate and the Director of External Affairs. This person will be providing support for the two key fundraising responsibilities of the department: 1) Fundraising, Marketing and Communications activities and 2) database management, clean up and entry. Training will be provided. Due to the nature of these projects, we are looking for an intern who can be on site 1-2 days a week for 8-16 hours.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with maintaining CWU’s website (training will be provided)
  • Assist with execution of logistics for donor/fundraising and public relations events (Memoir/report release events, networking events, etc.)
  • Update and maintain press clippings archive, press kit materials, and collateral archive
  • Research, compose, and post features, event recaps, photos with captions and other content for CWU social networking sites (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, etc.)
  • Interact with departments throughout the organization to gather information about various programs for materials, projects, and quarterly reports
  • Work with fundraising database entry (The Raiser’s Edge) as needed – training will be available 
  • Input on other administrative projects that arise to support the IA team throughout the semester 
 
Requirements:
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, timeliness, professionalism, initiative and ability to follow-through on all assigned tasks.
  • Short learning curve with ability to work well independently and also as part of a team, within a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong interest in Crittenton Women’s Union’s efforts to help low-income women become financially self-sufficient. 
  • Technical Skills: proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, strong writing, interpersonal, research, and organizational skills, as well as an ability to effectively utilize social networking technologies, are required. Basic HTML knowledge and/or experience using Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Photoshop, and/or InDesign – a plus
  • Flexibility and a good sense of humor are musts!
Shifts Available: Monday-Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM (flexible schedule negotiable upon hire within time frame; minimum of 15 hours/maximum 32 hours;)
Internship Level: Undergraduate and Graduate students encouraged to apply
Pay level: Unpaid/volunteer/Intern; transportation incentive negotiable on a case by case basis

Program Admin Intern

Internship Title: Program Admin Intern

Position Description: A unique opportunity to work with a dynamic team of Human Service Professionals who are focused on helping Massachusetts’s families, living in state funded transitional living programs,  develop skills to live independently supporting their families. Major focuses are projects/programs designed to foster self-sufficiency, such as financial management, career and education advancement to name a few. The internship provides an individual the opportunity for a hands-on experiences to see how a non-profit organization operates and how its programs intersect. The intern will be working with the following departments and programs such as Housing, Facilities, and Human Resources. The ideal candidate is energetic, willing to learn and likes working with others. Interns will:

  • Be an active member of a project team with assigned tasks
  • Participate in designing systems and tracking processes
  • Learn how to use quality Improvement methodology to drive change

Advocacy Intern

Internship Title: Advocacy Intern

The Advocacy Department at Crittenton Women’s Union works with clients, staff, and coalition partners toaddress the root causes of the barriers facing our clients and advance broader policy changes to benefit low-income women and families in Boston and Massachusetts. The Advocacy Intern will assist with legislative organizing and education campaigns. 

Intern responsibilities will include:

  • Plan and participate in advocacy events/trainings, including our Voices Advocacy Council trainings, as well as strategy meetings with Coalition partners.
  • Co-facilitate trainings and work one on one with participants in our housing, education, and training programs.
  • Conduct research and report and prepare factsheets to support advocacy efforts as needed.
  • Assist with correspondence to statewide partners and legislative offices.
  • Attend occasional partner meetings.
  • Assist with mailings, outreach calls and general administrative tasks.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Candidates should be interested in learning more about public policy, economic issues, and regulations impacting low-income women and their families.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience directly working with population a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet.
  • Travel to sites throughout Greater Boston on occasion; use of a car is not required.
  • Flexible, sense of humor a plus.
